Venetsialaiset of Kokkola
- Festival of Fire, Water and Light

The most beautiful thing about Kokkola is the dark August nights by the sea. Already at the end of the 19th century, so called Venetsialaiset, "Venetians" evening was celebrated as the summer cottage season was coming to its end. According to old traditions illuminations, bonfires, lanterns and torches of tar, and being in good company were part of the evening. The festivity has been fixed to the last weekend of August and nowadays the lights shine also in the city, not only on the beaches or summer cottages.
